December 5, 2024 will mark the 100th birthday of Mangaliso Robert Sobukwe. Sobukwe was an Azanian (South African) revolutionary Pan-Africanist and founding member of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC), who served as the first president of the organization. This FREE Washington DC event on Friday, December 6th will coincide with the commemoration of Sobukwe’s legacy to be held in Azania the following day. The event will be a screening and discussion of a renewed version of the film Sobukwe: A Great Soul by Mickey Madoda Dube about uTatu Sobukwe, followed by a panel of speakers that will include via zoom Mickey Madoda Dube joining us all the way from South Africa.
