The Black Alliance for Peace @bap_baltimore & @aaprpdmv presents “Forced Migration &
Imperialism: The Continuity of African Dispossession from the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade to Neocolonialism.”
African people have been uprooted for centuries, first through the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, forced migration continues to plague us today.

Millions have been pushed off their land, denied stability, and funneled into precarious labor across the globe as U.S. and European powers maintain systems that displace African people.

Through military occupations, economic warfare, land grabs, and coups—forced migration continues to be used as a tool of control. Whether crossing borders for survival or being pushed into exile by war and poverty, African people remain displaced, perpetuating the exploitation of Africa’s resources and its people

These tactics are used worldwide, across not only Africa, but also across Asia and the Americas. Through gentrification, low wages and high costs of living, Africans in Baltimore are entangled in a cycle of displacement.

Join for a critical conversation on: how imperialism fuels displacement and the tactics and ways people are displaced.
